Challenge 2: Opinion on gay marriage
Well I think it’s horrifically, undeniably wrong.
I have no problem with marriage. But gay marriage? In giving the union between two people of the same-sex its own name, you are setting it apart as something different. I will not be satisfied until I have the exact same rights as every heterosexual person does. My marriage should not, in any way, shape, or form, be considered even etymologically different than a heterosexual marriage.
I figure my actual opinion on marriage between two people of the same sex is a bit obvious and that I might be biased.
But seriously, disregarding the name, I don’t even understand why this is an issue in the courts or debates. Who the fuck do people think they are telling two consenting adults they don’t have the right to marry each other? These are the same people raving about getting the government out of peoples’ lives. The government’s job is to make sure I have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Not to regulate who I marry based on what’s between their legs.
